About Me

Greetings Friendly Fiends!

I’m Ce Jaye, the creator of the Intuitive Menagerie and author of Fay Tale. After putting a lot of thought into summing up myself as a person (it’s hard!), I’ve decided the following five characteristics make a core ‘pillar’ to understanding Ce Jaye as a person:

  1. Introvert

This tends to take people by surprise since I present as a high energy individual. (A gentle reminder to all that introverts are simply people who gain energy by being alone while extroverts gain energy by engaging with others.) I enjoy spending a lot of time on my own either writing, working, or pursuing my own hobbies such as binging stories in all types of formats.

Preferring introversion also means I spend a lotta time doing inward self-work. Which is great because that helps me enjoy and create lovely content for this website. Which is also bad because it means I have to force myself to go outside instead of spending my life inside a drywall box. In fact, I spent so much time cooped up inside with my new stay-at-home job that I became physically and mentally sick during 2020. Who could have possibly foreseen such a shocking development? -shocked pikachu face- To combat it I’ve become a lot more mindful about going outside on walks and now enjoy listening to a plethora of podcasts and audiobooks as I do so.

  2. Multipod

Multipods are also known as a multipotentialite/generalist/renaissance woman/etc. For myself this term means I like having a lot of different story projects going on at once. Otherwise I get stale and bored and angry with myself for being that way. It also means that once I’ve mastered a skill or job to the point of contentment, I’m ready for another challenge. This has been a source of consternation for both myself and my family since I don’t fit well into the ‘15 yrs at the same job’ model. Not that many people do these days. But it had the fortunate, and disorienting, effect of popping me out of the culture bubble and forcing me to think about what’s really important for me, my life, and my important missions.

  3. Bisexual

I came from a very religious, very conservative upbringing so it’s taken me quite a few years to pick through what I was taught to be able to accept and enjoy this side of myself. As a result, many of my characters came ‘out’ to me quite some time after I first met them. I also enjoy writing in a lot of queer representation and hope to continue meeting more characters who represent different aspects of the rainbow spectrum in the future.

  4. INFP

I won’t go into the whole Myers-Briggs thing since it’s long and involved and easy enough to google if you’re interested (and if you hate it just know other people do find enjoyment from it). I personally found it very helpful in understanding my mental mapping and how best to utilize my strengths and shore up my weaknesses. One of the biggest perks and challenges for INFPs is our “endless” cycle of creativity. This is great when, say, you have a website that needs content. Or stories that need beginnings, middles, and ends. This is not so great when you can’t turn off the popcorn machine of ideas. I believe being an INFP goes hand-in-hand with being a multipod though of course you can be a multipod without being an INFP and vice versa.

  5. Humor

You can already see that this one is a bit different from the other core characteristics just because I broke format. I can’t be ‘an humor.’ But humor is an integral part of how I interact with the world. Too many much feels? Laugh. Want to watch something? If it’s got a subplot of humor, I’ll watch anything from horror to historical.

Since I was a kid, you could hear my laughter spontaneously echo out in our normally quiet house. Humor is how I cope with the world. How I make it less unkind and a little more bright.

Quirks and Fun Facts

An About You page wouldn’t be complete without a few quirky favorite and fun facts! Here’s a list of mine via stamped approval by my Twin:

  1. Traveling

Everyone likes flying to cool places, right? Not me. I hate traveling in a rattling tin can with a 100 of my new worst enemies to a place that doesn’t have all my neatly organized, beloved possessions. Naturally, this realization has only come into my possession after traveling to multiple continents and other states. Better late than never, right?

  2. Animals

As the result of a sibling with a fur allergy, I never grew up with a dog or a cat. So naturally the first thing I did after renting an apartment was acquire a cat, and I’ve had a succession of six crazy kitties since. I’ve also volunteered at shelters, cat rescues, and even spent a few summers as a horse trail guide for kids. I am currently feline-less by choice, but I dearly miss the company and inanity of cat companions.

  3. Puns

I love puns. Puns love me. They follow me around in my head and will not leave me alone. Thankfully, inflicting them on the rest of humankind brings its own sadistic pleasure.

  4. Organizing

I am an organizing fiend y’all. I got started with Marie Kondo’s Life Changing Magic book, and I haven’t looked back since. I tend to fall on the minimalist side of the scale, but I by no means think that’s the best way of life for everyone. (I see you happy gremlin collectors!) It just tends to be easiest with my current lifestyle which leads us into my final fun fact.

  5. Moving

I move. A lot. My family likes to joke that I move every two years. Since I’ve located up to Virginia, however, I’ve averaged to about once a year. Bless my heart. This means all my worldly possessions need to be light enough to be carried by one person or able to be broken down into pieces that can be carried. Therefore, it pays to be a minimalist in my situation. That may change as I get older, but for now the highly varied, portable life is mine!
